Lifting While Training for a Marathon
Most apps make you pick: a lifting log or a running app. Training for a marathon while you keep lifting means seeing both in the same week.
One Week, Both Sides
Bellows keeps your lifts and your runs in one log, and the week's totals split into strength (hard sets by muscle group) and endurance (distance and time). You see whether a big mileage week is also a big leg week before your legs tell you.
The Rule That Saves Your Long Run
Heavy leg work right before a long run or a speed session makes both worse. Bellows warns you when heavy leg work sits within about 24 hours before one, so you can move the lift or lighten it.
A simple pattern many runners use:
- Heavy legs early in the week, well away from the long run.
- Upper body and core whenever it fits.
- Lighter or no leg work in the two to three days before the long run.
- Less lifting volume in the taper, with some strength kept.
Set Up Your Marathon Block
- Create a training block with your start date, race date and goal distance.
- Tap Suggest phases. Bellows splits the time into base, build, peak and taper. Edit any of it.
- Plan your weeks. Add runs and lifting sessions to the calendar, or ask your AI to lay them out. Your countdown and current phase show on the calendar.
